The Forgotten Story of Stanley Park
This interactive presentation guides the audience throughout the history of the first nations in Stanley Park.
My Role
- Technical Lead (Flash Developer / Asset Integrator)
- Voice Artist (Narration)
What I Learned
Assigned as a team of five people, we had to create a story of Stanley Park using Digital Media. We believed that it would be valuable to tell the story about the First Nations in Stanley Park before it was known as a public park. We learned a lot about the history on this matter and thought of different ways to tell this story. Given the 4 weeks that we had, we decided to build an interactive timeline in Flash that consisted of panoramic scenes, slide shows and an audio player for narration.
My role was to program the mechanics of these key features and to integrate all the media assets into one Flash project.
All in all it was a very exhausting experience as most of the work was only built within the last 3 days before the deadline. Not only were we down one man but Jeff had caught a bad flu which affected the progress of the project. However with our "Never Say Die!" attitude, we took on the challenge and pushed through all the difficulties that we faced.
We delivered the project on time and implemented all the key features that we proposed. We learned that it is best to prepare for the unexpected and have team members be able to work as backup on a task when others become sick during a critical time of production.
