As October draws to a close, I had the opportunity to facilitate an Agile Workshop for Berlin’s strategy company – diffferent.de.

The objective was to teach a group of consultants what Agile & Scrum is all about….in 1 day. That started off sounding simple but ended as a huge constraint.

Although we were aware that 1 day was not enough, we all wanted to commit to it so that we can exchange insights on why “agile” is so popular and get into an honest discussion of whether it fits to their work.

I had a clear picture in mind of what needed to be taught and the order of priority.

1 – The Origin of Agile
2 – What is Scrum?
3 – Product Owner Role
4 – Scrum Master Role

We only had time to cover the first two topics but the group felt satisfied knowing that they have a clear and shared understanding about the fundamentals.

The workshop overall was very interactive and we had some time to do a fun exercise. The meatiest part of the workshop was when we went in great detail about scrum, the key meetings and the artefacts. We discussed a lot about how all these elements would work in their day-to-day work as a non-IT company. Most of their “aha” moments came up went they realized what the optimal mindset and behaviours are for each scrum role.

The group felt inspired and are considering in getting more training to be more proficient in scrum. They agreed that I should have pushed for at least 2 days to fulfill the original agenda. I’d like to thank the team and diffferent.de for trusting me to enlighten them with this workshop. I also learned a lot from them too as a strategy agency.
